How does it work?

Hair Removal – the light is attracted to the melanin or the colour of the hair. Once the light has been absorbed it converts into heat, which travels down to the follicle destroying the hair. Following treatment the hair will appear to continue to grow however they will actually shed. This can take between 1-3 weeks.

Facial Thread Veins and Diffuse Redness – the light is attracted and absorbed into the haemoglobin. The energy created coagulates the superficial blood vessels and breaks down the protein in the lining of the vessel walls. As a result the veins and redness will gradually disappear.

Sun Damage – the light is attracted to the melanin. When the light is absorbed by the darker pigmented areas of the skin, the energy produced gently breaks them down, which allows them to come to the skins surface where they will naturally exfoliate over a period of 7 – 10 days.

A secondary benefit of all the skin rejuvenation treatments is that collagen production is increased by 92%; this will give the skin a plumper, fuller and younger appearance.

How long does it take?

For each treatment a thorough consultation and patch test will be carried out, usually the first treatment can start 7 days later. For hair removal the average number of treatments is 6 – 8, skin rejuvenation, acne and facial thread veins the average is 4. For optimum collagen stimulation a course of 6 treatments would be recommended. We do stress that this is an average and varies from person to person.

Does it hurt?

The system has different setting so with all treatments we work with our clients and their tolerance at no point should you be in too much discomfort. The sensation is described like a ping of an elastic band. It is normal and expected that the skin is left feeling warm and slightly red similar to how it may feel after a day on the beach.

How is the treatment carried out?

During your treatment you will be asked to wear some protective goggles, as the light is very bright. A layer of cool gel is applied to the skin. This protects the skin and aids the adsorption of the light. The light applicator which treats a small area at a time is placed on the skin and a short, quick pulse of light is then emitted. The applicator is then moved to the next area and the process is repeated. Once the full treatment has been carried out the gel is removed and skin soothed with some 100% aloe vera gel.

After the Treatment

For 2 days after the treatment please avoid heat treatments and the use of perfumed products. We recommend you continue to use 100% aloe vera gel for 48 hrs following treatment. For 30-60 days following treatment you must avoid the sun and wear a sunscreen of SPF30.
